During the COVID-19 pandemic, the group formed a “Leadership Team” of 7 individuals from different sectors and backgrounds that explored the future needs of a leadership organization that can become a promoter for the development of ICT in Central and Northern British Columbia and help bring together tech enthusiasts.

The result of that exploration was a resounding 100% support from Industry and Education tech top guns.

From that work, the Not for Profit – AURORALINX Northern Tech Collective Society was born.

The Beginning

Auroralinx (formerly Prince George Technology Group [PGTG]) was formed in 2019 by local leaders in Information Technology (Larry Chrobot and Mark  Vejvoda)

They identified the need for an Information and Communication Technology and Computer Sciences collaboration group, in the City of Prince George and surrounding communities.

The initiative found fertile ground and very quickly gathered members from multiple sectors. Members participated in monthly meet-ups to discuss items of mutual interest, to share the latest trends in ICT, and to create collaboration between tech enthusiasts.

Main Goals

Home Grown Talent Generation

To promote the integration of the latest information technology and innovation into the pathway, curriculum, and education programs.

From preschool, through elementary school, all the way to post-secondary education.

To connect to those current, up-to-date professionals and organizations who are located in Central and Northern BC

Technical Collaboration

To have a meeting space (physical and virtual) to connect with the existing technology community.

Which will include a myriad of people from Prince George, Central, and Northern BC industries, academia, government, and First Nations.

With a way to discuss and learn the latest developments in Information Communication Technology, and support the technology network.
