DETAILS
Topic – Is the transition to electric transportation real?
In 2009, when Doug began driving his electric truck, the supply of electric vehicles was limited. You could pay $140,000 to $1.5 million to get a high end hand built specialty electric vehicle, or you could tinker with a conversion. In British Columbia you now have over 14 all electric vehicles to select from, with prices as low as $20,000 for a new vehicle. In addition, you have 3 hydrogen or fuel-cell cars and over 25 plug-in hybrids to consider. The variety of models being made available is growing fast. The sales of EVs are growing at amazing rates, even though demand is outstripping the supply.
As an early adopter of EVs, Doug has fallen into the role of answering questions and sharing information about EVs. A role Doug very much enjoys. During this presentation you will gain insight as to why the quick transition to electric transportation is occurring, and where this electric transition is at.
Speaker: Doug Beckett, Owner and driver of electric vehicles in Prince George since 2009; facilitator of the Prince George Electric Vehicle Association; and Electric Vehicle (EV) enthusiast.
